Cop-Hating Democrat Gets Totally Humiliated

Democratic Congressman Jamaal Bowman from New York has been directed by a judge to issue a formal apology to law enforcement officials for triggering a fire alarm in a federal building.

The incident occurred last month in the Cannon building in Washington, D.C., while lawmakers were in the midst of voting on a crucial government funding bill.

Bowman, after pleading guilty to a minor offense related to the false alarm, reached a settlement with the authorities.

Under the terms of this agreement, he has committed to paying a $1,000 fine and composing a letter of apology addressed to U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger.

In return for his compliance, all charges against him will be dropped. This resolution comes several weeks after the initial reporting of the incident.

The Congressman had previously acknowledged his actions on September 30th, attributing the incident to an unfortunate mistake.

“I want to personally clear up confusion surrounding today’s events. Today, as I was rushing to make a vote, I came to a door that is usually open for votes but today would not open. I am embarrassed to admit that I activated the fire alarm, mistakenly thinking it would open the door. I regret this and sincerely apologize for any confusion this caused,” Bowman said.

“But I want to be very clear, this was not me, in any way, trying to delay any vote. It was the exact opposite—I was trying urgently to get to a vote, which I ultimately did and joined my colleagues in a bipartisan effort to keep our government open.” Bowman added.

Following the vote, Bowman met with the Sergeant at Arms and Capitol Police to provide an explanation for the incident.

He expressed his hope that the situation would not be blown out of proportion and emphasized his unwavering commitment to his legislative duties.

In a statement, he expressed gratitude toward the District of Columbia Attorney General’s office for a swift resolution and relief that the U.S. Capitol Police’s legal team concurred that he did not deliberately obstruct House proceedings.

Nevertheless, this episode has not been without political ramifications. Some Republican figures have argued that the situation warrants further disciplinary action.

“I think [the House] Ethics should look at this but this is serious,” then-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said earlier this month. “When you think of how other people are treated when they wanted to come in and change the course of what was happening in this building … I’m going to have a discussion with the Democratic leader about it. But this should not go without punishment. This is an embarrassment.”

Former President Donald Trump also said: “Will Congressman Jamaal Bowman be prosecuted and imprisoned for very dangerously pulling and setting off the main fire alarm system in order to stop a Congressional vote that was going on in D.C.”
