A former Democratic mayor has been sentenced to serve six months in prison over possession of child pornography.
Dennis Doyle, former mayor of Beaverton, Oregon, was given a six-month prison sentence and ordered to pay $22,000 in restitution to the victims by a federal court for possession of child pornography, the Oregon District U.S. Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday.
The maximum sentence for having child pornography in your possession is 20 years in jail and a lifetime of supervised release. Doyle will serve a sentence of six months, followed by five years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
“Mr. Doyle must perpetually register as a sexual offender,” said a U.S. Attorney’s Office representative.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office reported that the former Dem mayor admitted to having child pornographic photographs on his person between November 2014 and December 2015 when approached by FBI investigators in early 2022. He then entered a guilty plea to one count in October.
The FBI was first made aware of Doyle’s crimes after the Beaverton Police Department received a tip from a nearby company about the finding of a USB drive thought to belong to Doyle and containing child pornography as well as private photos in January 2022. Several of the photographs, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, show known sexually exploited youngsters under the age of 12.
This comes as child exploitation has been a growing problem in the Democratic Party. Last week, a same-sex couple from Georgia was accused of sexually abusing their adopted sons and producing child pornography with them, in addition to being accused of having prostituted the boys to a group of pedophiles in their community.
An investigation conducted by Townhall found that 33-year-old William Dale Zulock and 35-year-old Zachary Jacoby Zulock used social media platforms to engage in the prostitution of their two young sons, who are of elementary school age.
“The adoptive dads allegedly performed oral sex on both boys, forced the children to perform oral sex on them, and anally raped their sons. In at least one instance, the anal rape injured the older Zulock child, who just turned 11-years-old in mid-December,” Townhall reported.
