As midterm elections loom, a Democratic senator has an unpleasant message for any Democrat hopeful of retaining or even growing the lead in November.
Colorado Senator Michael Bennet is warning his whole party to brace themselves for a bumpy ride.

“In 2010, I had a really difficult race. That was a particularly challenging cycle. In 2014, I served as chair of the DSCC,” he said. “It turns out to be another difficult cycle in 2016.”
The presidential hopeful and chair of the Democratic Senate PAC added that Colorado being a “blue state” is a misconception, arguing that “[it] is still a toss-up state.”
“If you’re within the same team as the administration, it’s going to be a tough cycle,” Bennet said, characterizing voters as “angry at everyone” over the rapid inflation, the ongoing pandemic, and the expiry of the popular child benefits.
Democrats are fearing that the dissatisfaction with the Biden administration could cost them their majority in Congress during the November 8 midterm elections.
Speaking to Democratic National Committee members, President Joe Biden said recently that it would be a “sad, sad two years” if Republicans were to become in charge of Congress.
He also urged them to rally behind his “Build A Better America” platform and to give their all during the midterms in November.
“If we don’t do that, don’t do that, it’s going to be a sad, sad two years. Think about Republicans if they controlled the Congress these last two years,” Biden said. “I believe we have a record to be incredibly proud of … a message that resonates: Build a better America. Now we have to do the work. Now what we have to do is we have to sell it with confidence, clarity, conviction and repetition.”
A survey released by NBC News last March revealed that the president’s approval rating stands at just 40 percent, a three percent drop since January and a historic low for Biden since he took office.
This indicates that an increasing number of Americans are losing trust in the president, including fellow party members who have left Biden behind after lifting his administration’s abrasive health restrictions earlier this year.
