In a recent development, former President Donald Trump officially endorsed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for the position of Speaker of the House late on Thursday night.
This endorsement came as a surprise to many, particularly because earlier on Thursday, Trump had announced his willingness to accept the House speakership for a brief period while Republicans decided on a permanent replacement.
Donald Trump made this announcement via a statement on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“I am running for President, have a 62 Point lead over Republicans, and am up on Crooked Joe Biden, despite the Democrat Party’s massive Law-fare, Weaponization, and Election Interference efforts, by 4 to 11 Points, but will do whatever is necessary to help with the Speaker of the House selection process, short term, until the final selection of a GREAT REPUBLICAN SPEAKER is made – A Speaker who will help a new, but highly experienced President, ME, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump said.
Reports from The Gateway Pundit had previously suggested that Trump might visit Congress before the Speaker vote and even consider pitching himself as a candidate for Speaker.
On Thursday night, Rep. Troy Nehls shared this news on social media, stating that he had a productive conversation with President Trump about the Speaker’s race.
Just had a great conversation with President Trump about the Speaker’s race.
He is endorsing Jim Jordan, and I believe Congress should listen to the leader of our party.

“Just had a great conversation with President Trump about the Speaker’s race. He is endorsing Jim Jordan, and I believe Congress should listen to the leader of our party. I fully support Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House.” Nehls said.
Trump officially endorsed Jim Jordan, and Nehls expressed his full support for Jim Jordan’s candidacy.
Congressman Troy Nehls had previously declared his intention to nominate former President Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the House. He had received support from multiple Members of Congress willing to back Trump for this position.
“When the U.S. House of Representatives reconvenes, my first order of business will be to nominate Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives,” Nehls said.
“President Trump, the greatest President of my lifetime, has a proven record of putting America First and will make the House great again,” he continued.
Nehls added, “I’ve been contacted by multiple Members of Congress willing to support and offer nomination speeches for Donald J. Trump to be Speaker of the House. Next week is going to be HUGE.”
However, during his conversation with Trump, Rep. Troy Nehls revealed that the former President intends to endorse Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House.
Trump highlighted Jim Jordan’s impressive track record, including his Chairmanship of the House Judiciary Committee and his dedication to issues like crime, border security, the military, veterans, and the Second Amendment.
Trump expressed his confidence that Jim Jordan would be a great Speaker of the House and gave him his complete and total endorsement.
