First Lady Jill Biden’s approval has fallen to an all-time low as her husband President Joe Biden also suffers from low approval points.
According to a recent CNN/SSRS poll on Monday, Jill’s favorability among American adults dropped 24 points in one year.
The survey, which has tracked the First Lady’s favorability each year since 2020, pegged her approval rating at 34 percent — down from 58 percent in 2021 and 46 percent in 2020.
The new ratings come after Jill made some insulting comparisons to UnidosUS founder Raul Yzaguirre where she likened the Latino community to “breakfast tacos” in her speech.
“Raul helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community, as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio, is your strength,” she said.
Her remarks sparked criticism among members of the Latino community, including the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, who called out the First Lady for stereotyping Latinos.
“We are not tacos. Our heritage as Latinos is shaped by a variety of diasporas, cultures, and food traditions, and should not be reduced to a stereotype,” the organization said.
Jill has since then apologized for the comments she made.
“The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community,” tweeted Michael LaRosa, the First Lady’s press secretary.
Meanwhile, her husband Joe Biden is also struggling with low popularity ratings. An NBC News poll from March revealed that his approval rating currently stands at 40 percent, a three percent drop since January and a historic low for the president since he took office.
A poll from the New York Times/Siena College also found that a majority of Democratic voters don’t want Joe to run again in 2024, with only 26 percent of registered Democratic voters saying that the party should renominate him.
This indicates that an increasing number of Americans are losing trust in the president, including fellow party members who have left him behind as they lift the Biden administration’s abrasive health restrictions.
