Florida Fight With Disney Has Other Woke Companies Worried

Corporate CEOs worry at anti-woke pushback after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill stripping Disney of its privileges under state law.

Previously, the Walt Disney company made headlines for vocally opposing DeSantis’ Florida law that bans discussion of sexuality with students in kindergarten to third grade.

Following the governor’s action against Disney, CEOs across the United States shared the same sentiments on what they called the “alarming” pushback.

In a piece published in the Wall Street Journal on Sunday, Authors Chip Cutter and Emily Glazer stated  that while “vocal employees have in recent years pushed bosses to take public stands on social and political issues,” the outcome in Florida “has raised the stakes.”

Bill George, who formerly served as chairman and CEO of Medtronic PLC and is now a senior fellow at Harvard Business School also expressed his sentiment in the piece asking “When should I speak out on public issues?”

“As one CEO said to me, ‘I want to speak out on social issues, but I don’t want to get involved in politics. Which I said under my breath, ‘That’s not possible.’” The piece added, quoting the CEO.

Moreover, in a report published by the Daily Wire, it was revealed that “a lot of people say the Republican Party is too extreme, too divisive, too controlled by one person,” the Daily Wire quoted Biden as declaring. “They say it’s not your father’s Republican Party.”
