Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Sunday admitted that the Democrats are doomed in the midterms thanks to the Biden administration’s failed policies.
During an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Psaki was asked by host Chuck Todd whether Democratic ads are effective enough to increase their election chances in November.

“Look, I think that Democrats, if the election is about who is the most extreme, as we saw, you know, Kevin McCarthy touch on there with Marjorie Taylor Greene, I’ll say her name, sitting over his left side, then they’re going to win. If it is a referendum on the president, they will lose, and they know that,” Psaki said.
Psaki, who stepped down as White House press secretary in May, also said that the continued economic downturn and the rise in crime are hurting President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party.
“That’s where they see [Biden’s] vulnerability,” said Psaki. “So, yes, the economy is hanging over everything, but you have [to] look at state-by-state factors, and crime is a huge issue in the Pennsylvania race,” she said.
Democrats are fearing that the infighting and dissatisfaction with the Biden administration could cost them their majority in both houses of Congress during the midterms.
A Times/Siena College poll recently found that 52 percent of voters said that they trust Republicans to manage the economy, while only 38 percent put their faith in Democrats.
Democrats are also increasingly rejecting Biden as the party’s 2024 presidential nominee, with 56 percent of Democratic voters saying he should not mount a re-election run while only 35 percent said he should run for a second term, according to a poll by ABC News/The Washington Post.
This comes after House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Friday unveiled the GOP’s “Commitment to America” plan, which includes policies focused on combating inflation and illegal immigration.
Democratic lawmakers, such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, criticized the agenda.
“House Republicans are doubling down on an extreme MAGA agenda: to criminalize women’s health care, to slash seniors’ Medicare (including with the repeal of the lower drug prices for seniors in the Inflation Reduction Act), and to attack our democracy,” Pelosi wrote in a statement.
