Google is going to combine its Android and Pixel systems to help AI!

Google has said that they will be mixing the hardware for Pixel and Fitbit with the software for Android. This will help the company use AI more broadly by bringing these areas together.

The CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai, said that these changes would “turbocharge the Android and Chrome ecosystems” and encourage more growth and new ideas. Rick Osterloh, who was in charge of Google’s hardware before, would now be in charge of both departments.

Google took Android out of its hardware business so that it wouldn’t have to compete with other developers too much. However, Pixel has been a flagship device and a leader in showing what AI can do ever since. Osterloh said that the main reason the company was combining these two areas was to use AI and make the hardware and software work on mobile devices.

Osterloh said, “That integration of hardware, software, and AI really showed how AI could completely change the user experience…”That was very important. It’s still true today.

He also says that this could help Google make even more progress in incorporating AI into a wide range of their products. It took a lot of knowledge of systems and AI technology, especially in the early months, to add AI to the Pixel camera last year, he said.

An analyst named Chirag Dekate said, “Google wants to dominate AI and be at the top of the new AI economy, both on the consumer and business sides. They plan to do this by putting AI everywhere and linking it all together.”
