Greene Floats Idea Of Trump As Next Speaker

Former President Donald Trump’s potential candidacy for Speaker of the House is gaining traction within the Republican Party.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) voiced her support for Trump, suggesting him as a replacement for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who faced a dramatic ousting in a recent floor vote.

Several other Republicans, including Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX), have also expressed interest in Trump assuming the role.

Nehls said that he would “nominate Donald J. Trump for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives” when the body reconvenes next week.

“President Trump, the greatest President of my lifetime, has a proven record of putting America First and will make the House great again,” he claimed.

Rep. Greene emphasized Trump’s track record of putting “America First” and his ability to “make the House great again.”

“The only candidate for Speaker I am currently supporting is President Donald J. Trump. He will end the war in Ukraine. He will secure the border. He will end the politically weaponized government. He will make America energy independent again.” Greene asserted.

“He will pass my bill to stop transgender surgeries on kids and keep men out of women’s sports. He will support our military and police. And so much more! He has a proven 4 year record as President of the United States of America. He received a record number of Republican votes of any Republican Presidential candidate! We can make him Speaker and then elect him President! He will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” she claimed.

Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) echoed this sentiment on social media, indicating his support for Trump’s potential candidacy.

Greene further emphasized that Trump would address issues such as the conflict in Ukraine, border security, and her bill related to transgender surgeries and women’s sports.

As of now, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) has assumed the role of Speaker Pro Tempore, but the situation remains fluid. Notably, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) supported retaining McCarthy, and Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) is dealing with health challenges. It’s worth noting that senior House Republican leadership did not vote to remove McCarthy from his position.

Rep. Gaetz had previously suggested Trump as a speaker candidate during a January debate.

While tradition has seen House Speakers being sitting representatives, the Constitution allows for an individual from outside the House to assume the role.

Trump himself commented on the ongoing turmoil, questioning why Republicans are divided internally rather than focusing on countering the actions of the Radical Left Democrats.
