The most recent All-American Economy Survey shows that at least half of Americans want TikTok to be banned or go out of business.
The United States has put in place a plan to ban the app if it isn’t sold to a non-Chinese business. This is because people were worried about security holes and possible threats on the social media site that ByteDance owns.
The poll found that people’s views were very different based on their age, political views, and whether they used the app or not. A poll of 1,000 people found that 20% of them think TikTok should be banned no matter what. It also said that three out of ten people were totally against the ban.
The bill has not yet been taken up by the Senate, but the US is giving ByteDance six months to decide if they want to sell the business or have it banned in the US.
There are more than 500,000 posts on the social media app with the words #SaveTikTok and #KeepTikTok. This shows how many people support the app and don’t want it to be banned.
This is what we expected: young people don’t like the idea of the ban, and many of them have taken to social media to talk about it.
Ophia Nichols said, “You’re taking away our rights under the First Amendment…”Some people don’t get it. This is a neighborhood. There’s a family…No matter what makes you happy or what you enjoy, the app has someone else who would love it too.
