Harris Is Officially The Lowest-Rated VP In American History

It’s official! Vice President Kamala Harris is the lowest-rated vice president in U.S. history, according to a not-so-shocking new poll.

NBC News’ recent survey showed that only 32 percent of registered voters expressed satisfaction with Harris’ performance as vice president, while a whopping 49 percent said otherwise.

This makes Harris the first vice president in the poll’s history to have a net-negative rating of -17. In contrast, former Vice President Mike Pence held a relatively balanced 34 percent positive to 38 percent negative rating, giving him a net-negative rating of -4.

Further historical parallels serve to emphasize how terrible Harris has been. Then-Vice President Joe Biden had a slightly positive approval rating in December 2010, with 34 percent positive and 33 percent negative (+1).

Harris has long been the subject of scrutiny after several policy-related mishaps, from neglecting the southern border crisis to coming unprepared at a NATO conference.

Before Russia invaded Ukraine last year, Biden assigned her to attend the Munich Security Conference in Germany in hopes of unifying NATO allies against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

If Harris doesn’t start taking her job seriously, she’ll be leaving her post with a mediocre legacy. A separate poll conducted by the Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies last year reveals that even her home state of California disapproves of her, with only 35 percent of Californians satisfied with her performance, while 45 percent voiced a negative view.

The vice president has since responded to the negativity, directing the blame toward the media for not covering her enough.

“What you’ve been able to see is based on what gets covered. There are things that I’ve done as vice president that fully demonstrate the strength of my leadership as vice president that have not received the kind of coverage that I think the Dobbs decision did receive,” Harris said in an interview with the Washington Post recently.

Elsewhere in the NBC News poll, there has been a shift in the Republican Party’s presidential race, with former President Donald Trump expanding his lead among potential GOP contenders despite his federal indictment in the classified documents probe. Trump now has 51 percent of Republican primary voters’ support, up 5 points from April, per the poll.
