Recent problems with the Houthi group, which is backed by Iran, and their efforts to “stop the war on Gaza” by attacking several ships in the Red Sea have made things worse. The leaders of the Houthis told the US and UK that they would pay a “heavy price” for attacking more than twenty targets in Yemen.
Hussein al-Ezzi, a senior Houthi official, replied on X, “America and Britain will definitely have to get ready to pay a heavy price and deal with all the terrible effects of this open aggression.” Even though people have warned him not to, President Biden stands his ground and says he will keep up the strikes. Five people were killed and six were hurt in the attack.
When the Houthis made their threat, Biden said, “We will make sure that we respond to the Houthis if they continue to act in such an outrageous way along with our allies.” If you asked Biden if he thought the Houthis were a terrorist group, he said, “I think they are.” People in the military say they are ready for the Houthis to fight back, but they “hope that they don’t retaliate.”
The US sent more than 150 precision-guided weapons on Thursday, which hit 28 different places. When Houthi rebels attacked ships in the Red Sea, even though they were told to stop, this attack happened in reaction.
“The American and British enemy is fully responsible for the crimes they have committed against the people of Yemen, and they will be punished and answered for it,” Hussein al-Ezzi said. People in charge in Iran say that the US strike is a “clear violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a breach of international law.”
“Supporting Palestine and Gaza” would not stop the Houthi group’s chief negotiator and spokesman, who also said that they would continue to attack Israeli ships and any that might be going to Palestinian ports.
The main problem, though, is that the Houthi rebel group has attacked a lot of ships that have nothing to do with Israel. Because of this, there have been a lot of problems with shipping and moving goods through the Red Sea.
“Today’s coalition action sends a clear message to the Houthis that they will pay the price if they don’t stop their illegal attacks,” US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said.
