A popular liberal TikTok account caused the cancellation of a drag show in Jasper, Indiana, after receiving public backlash.
The drag show was a part of an event called “Pride in the Park” and organized by the Dubois County Pride committee in partnership with the city of Jasper.

The account, Libs of TikTok, posted a screenshot of the promo material from the group and noted that they encouraged children to attend, and also asked for everyone to bring money to give to the drag queens.
“In Jasper, Indiana, a pride event with a drag queen performance is being advertised for all ages and they are encouraging kids to bring cash to tip the drag queens,” the account captioned the event on Twitter.
On Wednesday, however, the group announced in a Facebook post that the drag show had been canceled.
“We regretfully announce that due to safety and security concerns, the family-friendly drag performance planned for Pride in the Park has been canceled,” read the statement.
“This decision was jointly made by the City of Jasper, ONE- Dubois County, and the Dubois County Pride committee,” the statement continued. “While the Dubois County Pride committee is disappointed by this development, we are in no way deterred. Our mission to promote and advocate love and equality remains steadfast.”
Some LGBTQ supporters directed the blame at Libs of TikTok for simply posting it on Twitter.
“A drag show had to be canceled due to safety and security concerns. Twitter just lets this go on while a campaign of terror is being inflicted on LGBTQ people and orgs,” said one user.
Libs of TikTok’s tweet garnered nearly a thousand retweets and more than 3.6k likes on Twitter but replies were mixed.
“I’ve been to Jasper many times. It’s as big as a small neighborhood. This should highlight how absolutely bad this is getting. It’s reaching the middle of nowhere towns in the sticks,” noted one user.
“‘Family-friendly’ and ‘drag show’ in the same sentence? Not in my house,” complained another.
