The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reportedly found dead children outside of burned-out homes in the Israeli kibbutz Kfar Aza.
According to Maj. Gen. Itai Veruv, bodies of Israeli residents and Hamas attackers were found outside in Kfar Aza after the terrorist organization launched thousands of missiles at Israel earlier this month.
“I’ve never seen anything like this in my career, never in 40 years of service this something I never imagined,” Veruz told CNN.
Lfar Aza was one of the many kibbutzim, or tiny farming communities, that took the brunt of Hamas’ ground assault last week. The kibbutzim and settlements of Kfar Aza, Be’eri, Ofakim, Sderot, Yad Mordechai, Yated, Kissufim, and Urim were among those targeted. Attendees at a music festival held in the desert outside of Be’eri were also gunned down and taken captive.
“I saw hundreds of terrorists in full armor, full gear, with all the equipment and all the ability to make a massacre, go from apartment to apartment, from room to room and kill babies, mothers, fathers in their bedrooms,” Veruv said.
This comes after the Iran-backed Hamas attacked Israel and invaded towns along the Gaza border earlier this month, killing at least 700 people. As of Wednesday, the death toll has risen to 1,200, according to IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus.
The attack prompted Israel to declare war against the terrorist group with a ruthless aerial campaign that has flattened homes, schools, medical institutions, and government buildings in the Gaza Strip.
U.S. President Joe Biden has since pledged his support for Israel, with his administration already moving military units to the country as well as supplying them with munitions and interceptors to ensure the Iron Dome defense system has enough supplies.
“We stand with Israel. We stand with Israel. And we will make sure Israel has what it needs to take care of its citizens, defend itself, and respond to this attack,” he said in remarks from the State Dining Room. “There is no justification for terrorism. There is no excuse.”
Biden has also had three different phone conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since the attack.
