Miami has to face a harsh truth: it is the epicenter of the effects of climate change

Miami is the most likely place for climate change to happen, especially when it comes to higher sea levels, according to experts. In the next few decades, rising seas will likely cover a lot of the Miami area. A lot of people say that by 2060, sixty percent of Miami will be underwater.

Despite the dangers that climate change poses to the area, a lot of people are coming to Miami right now.

Brubaker, who is the city of Miami’s top resilience officer, said, “It’s ground zero for climate change.”

One person in the area who is worried about climate change is Daniel Habiban. His store is only a few blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, and he is afraid about how the rising water levels might hurt his business.

“Miami is almost at sea level, so a little water can flood it,” he said.

A lot of people want to move to or visit Miami for many reasons. Habiban said, “We like living here.” “Let’s see what takes place.”

The number of people living in the Miami, Florida, area has grown by 70% since last year, to almost six million. It shows that a lot of Americans aren’t thinking about the dangers of climate change, even though they know about them. For now, it’s fine for people to move into the area, but this could become a big financial problem if environmental problems keep happening as planned.

The usual height of Miami is about six feet, which is the same height as the sea level rise. It has been very high tides and “sunny day flooding” in the area for years now.

Scientists at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development have named Miami as one of the ten most at risk places in the world. When all of the city’s assets and the damage that could be done are added up, it is found to be the most susceptible.
