Michelle Obama ‘couldn’t Stand’ Husband Barack For 10 Years Of Marriage

Former first lady Michelle Obama revealed this month that she “couldn’t stand” former President Barack Obama for about a decade when the couple’s two daughters were young.

During a panel discussion interview with Revolt TV, Michelle opened up about the challenges of raising two young daughters as the power couple moved through their careers and the strain it placed on the marriage.

“We don’t talk about how much work it takes and how hard it is even when you’re madly in love with the person, even when everything works out,” she said.

“People think I’m being malicious by saying this: It’s like there were ten years that I couldn’t stand my husband. And guess when that happened? When those kids were little.

Michelle has conveyed the difficult balance between raising girls and dealing with her own hectic schedule.

“And for ten years, as we were trying to build our careers and, you know, worrying about school and who was doing what and what, I was like, ‘Ugh, that’s not even that,'” she explained.

“And guess what? Marriage is not 50/50, never, ever.

“There are times when I’m 70. He’s 30. There are times when she’s 60 or 40, but guess what: 10 years, we’ve been married for 30. I’d take ten bad years on top of 30. That’s how you look at it. And people give up… ‘five years; I can not stand it.’

Malia and Sasha Obama were 10 and 7, respectively, when their father was elected president.

“Little kids, They’re terrorists. They have requested. They do not speak. They are bad communicators. They always cry,” she said.

“They are irrational. They are needy. And you love them. And so you can’t blame them, right? …Then, they take that anger out on each other.

Through the ups and downs, the former first lady has suggested that she still respects and admires her spouse. She stressed that it’s important to know “your person.”

“You like him? I mean, you might be mad at him, but you still look at him and say, ‘I’m not happy with you, but I respect you,'” she said. “‘I don’t agree with you, but you’re still a kind and intelligent person.”

Michelle promoted her second book, “The Light We Carry,” which was released in November.

While discussing the book last month, she said she felt the pressure to wear her hair straight.

Michelle said Americans were “not ready” for her natural hair, as they were still “adjusting” to having the first black family in the White House.

“They tripped when Barack was wearing a tan suit,” she added, recalling the controversy she faced in 2014 when she sported the unusual-for-a-president duds.

The Obamas made millions from book deals and appearances. His net worth is estimated to be at least $70 million.

The couple signed a joint deal in 2017 for their memoir for an estimated $65 million.
