Shocking video shows the Texas National Guard holding off dozens of illegal immigrants attempting to cross into the U.S. through the Rio Grande.
The video shows a large contingent of national guardsmen equipped with riot gear and ballistic shields blocking swats of migrants trying to illegally cross into the country.
“Vamanos (Let’s go!),”a loudspeaker blared from a Texas Department of Public Safety vehicle on the opposite side, with the border wall about 300 feet in the background.
“Vamanos,” the agent repeated before a dozen Texas National Guardsmen appeared, telling them to leave. The illegals then retreated.
Some of the migrants spoke with The New York Post, sharing their stories on why they wanted to go to America, even if it meant entering illegally.
“I want to be something when I grow up,” a high school student who left the Dominican Republic two weeks ago after the murder of two uncles told the news outlet.
“There is no security where we live,” said Barebes Santos, who is from the Dominican capital, Santo Domingo.
Republican Texas Gov. Greg deployed the guardsmen last week as illegal immigrants continue flocking into the country.
“Great work by Texas National Guard and Texas DPS,” Abbott tweeted. “Biden sent 1,500 troops to the border to do paperwork. Texas deployed trained soldiers and troopers to take real action and respond to this crisis.”
President Joe Biden had previously deployed 1,500 troops to the southern border, though they were tasked with transporting and processing the massive flow of illegals rather than stopping the flow.
The massive influx of illegal immigrants entering the country has put a significant strain on resources, especially in Texas, where many border cities are struggling to keep up with the surge of new arrivals.
This comes as the Biden administration continues to struggle with the massive influx of migrants entering the U.S. from Mexico. The U.S. has been seeing massive migrant numbers since Biden announced last year that he would be lifting “Title 42,” a controversial border policy implemented by former President Donald Trump back in March 2020 that allowed the border agency to turn migrants away.
