Off-Duty Cop Barely Escapes Murderous Attack in His Front Yard

An off-duty policeman in Alabama was nearly murdered in his driveway by a deranged driver, according to reports.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at 5 p.m. when Decatur Officer Jack Brown noticed an unfamiliar black Jeep Wrangler sitting idly in front of his house. Brown went out to ask the driver if he needed help before the man attempted to run over the officer.

A Ring camera caught the murderous ordeal. In the video, the Jeep darts towards Brown but misses, hitting a tree instead. The officer then makes his way inside the house.

The attacker, later identified as 54-year-old Gregory Martin Hill, exits his vehicle and runs into Brown’s carport. After his leisurely return to the crashed car, Brown comes running with a pointed pistol.

Hill turns the ignition and hits reverse. The Jeep catches Brown on its hood, pushing him far outside the camera’s frame.

“[Brown ] was pushed almost the entire length of the front yard… [Hill ] then backed up and ran over [his] legs,” Al.com reported. “[Hill ] then exited the vehicle and was subdued by [Brown ] and a civilian who witnessed the ordeal.”

Hill was initially charged with second-degree assault before being upgraded to attempted murder. He was booked into the Morgan County Jail with a cash bond set at $1,000,000.

Police spokeswoman Irene Cardenas-Martinez said there appears to be no connection between Brown and the suspect.

The news comes as mainstream media vilifies law-abiding gun owners for stepping up and protecting their community. Most recently, an armed Samaritan stopped a gunman who killed three people in an Indiana mall last month.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. when the gunman entered the Greenwood Park Mall’s food court and began shooting, leaving three people dead and two others injured.

“It appears that he had a rifle with several magazines of ammunition, entered the food court and began shooting,” Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison told reporters.

That’s when a 22-year-old civilian from nearby Bartholomew County shot the gunman and put an end to his terror.

“The real hero of the day is the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in that food court and was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as he began,” Ison said.
