Plane Carrying Jill Biden Diverted Due To ‘Aircraft Issue’

The plane of First Lady Jill Biden was diverted on Monday due to an issue with the aircraft’s windshield.

Vanessa Valdivia, the first lady’s press secretary, said in a tweet that Biden’s plane was diverted back to Colorado because of an apparent “aircraft issue.”

“Due to an aircraft issue en route Michigan, the first lady was diverted back to Denver, Colorado,” Valdivia tweeted on Monday afternoon. “Her trip to Michigan will be postponed to a later date.”

“Everyone is safe. We’re back on the ground in Denver,” she added.

A spokesperson for the Air Force’s 89th Airlift Wing later said that the cause of the diversion was a cracked windshield.

“After further assessment, the aircrew elected to divert the aircraft back to Denver International Airport due to a non-threatening windshield crack to mitigate risks associated with the integrity of the windshield and icing conditions at their destination,” they said. “The crew returned safely without any injuries to the passengers or aircrew onboard.”

The spokeswoman added that Biden returned to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Monday night using a military plane.

Reporters have reached out to Joint Base Andrews for comment, but they did not immediately return the request.

The first lady visited Denver on Monday as part of the Biden administration’s “Investing in America” tour, where she discussed her husband’s economic initiatives and workforce training programs.

“After passing historic legislation these last two years, the Biden-Harris Administration is traveling the country on an “Investing in America” tour to talk to people about what it all means for you, for your families and your communities. From new manufacturing jobs, to high-speed internet, to better airport safety, to clean water, these new investments are helping leaders in states, cities, and rural areas improve people’s lives,” Biden told the crowd at the Colorado State Capitol.

Biden is scheduled to go to Maine and Vermont on Wednesday for similar events.

“I’ll be focusing on community colleges and jobs. We need to work together to help our students get the education and training they need for the careers they want,” she said on Monday.
