Protesters against Israel were called “gutless” because they wore masks

Some people are coming out against the anti-Israel protesters who wear masks and cause chaos on college campuses in the United States. Some people think these protesters are “gutless” and that their actions show the “opposite of courage.”

Face masks and other head coverings are becoming popular again for people protesting on school grounds. They were very popular during the pandemic. People who are protesting the Israel-Palestine war are hiding their names with these coverings. While these protests have been going on, they have caused chaos and violence and led to arrests at both UCLA and Columbia.

Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO and National Director of the Anti-Defamation League, said, “Hiding behind a mask to threaten and scare people, let alone threaten to hurt them physically is the opposite of courage.” But when schools let this happen, it can put students in real danger.

Some people have said that the masks and other coverings send a different message to the cops and other people who are watching the protests. People were telling them they looked like they were “dressed like bank robbers,” which can give the protesters the wrong idea.

Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett said he thinks they are just trying to hide who they are. He added, “I feel like also they are probably paid – some of them are not university students and they are paid instigators, and so they are trying to hide that further.”

He went on to say that the protesters lack courage and that President Biden has treated the protests in the same way.

Burchett added, “He’s been pretty gutless up to this point trying to play both sides and if you are a leader, you just do what is right.” He said, “If somebody is breaking the law, they need to be prosecuted.”
