While documenting the escalation of violence and criminal activities in Memphis, Tennessee, NBC Action News 5 reporter Joyce Peterson almost crumbled crying while broadcasting live on air.
As she was covering a shootout that broke out late on Wednesday and was live streamed on Facebook, Peterson started to tear up.
Ezekiel Kelly, 19, was seized by the Memphis Police Department after he spent hours tormenting the city, swapping automobiles many times, resulting in the killing of seven people.
“Memphis is tired right now,” Paterson emotionally remarked, explaining that Memphis is currently worn out. The kidnapping, murder, and abduction of Eliza Fletcher. Things are getting challenging right now because of the other atrocities we’ve seen this year that came before this.

“Bear with me, it’s a very nerve-racking night,” he added.
Kelly allegedly carried out his assaults on Wednesday on a Facebook live stream, in which one clip showed him pointing and shooting his revolver at a customer inside an auto parts shop. In all, four individuals were killed and three more were injured in the gun rampage.
A BP gas station witnessed one fatal gunshot, while another shooting happened close to I-240, according to Fox 13. The shootings took place over a period of around nine hours, with the first victim being struck just after 4:30 p.m. Then there was a second shooting at about 1:00 a.m.
Another incident shows the murder of Eliza Fletcher, which was confirmed by the authorities. The unfortunate event occurred on a morning jog, Fletcher, a 34-year-old mother, and kindergarten teacher, where she was thrown into a black GMC Terrain. Later, her corpse was discovered by police on Monday night.
First-degree assault and first-degree murder in the perpetration of abduction are the charges brought against 38-year-old Cleotha Abston by the authorities.
Aside from that, he is accused of tampering with evidence and attempted abduction, as, according to a witness, Abston cleaned the interior of his car and his clothes in the midst of the kidnapping.
FBI crime statistics show that Memphis has a total crime rate of 7,912 crimes committed per 100,000 residents, which is 237.3% more than the national average. Compared to the national average, the violent crime rate is more than 500% higher.
