Russia says they want to get Alaska back, but the US laughs it off

There are rumors that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an order saying that he will take back “Russian real estate” that the U.S. now owns. The U.S. State Department didn’t pay much attention to these claims on Monday because Putin was talking about Alaska as former Russian land.

Vice-spokesperson for the state, Vedant Patel, said, “Let me just understand that he signed something today that said the sale of Alaska is illegal.” Well, I think everyone in the U.S. government agrees that he won’t be getting it back.

Sources say that Putin signed an order on Friday asking the Russian Department of Foreign Property to pay for “searching the real estate property owned by the Russian Federation, the former Russian Empire, and the former USSR.” Russia was “due registration of property rights,” and the order said they had to “legally protect this property.”

A Russian writer wrote about Russia’s search for land and named Alaska as one of the places they might start looking into.

The writer said, “We think you should start with Alaska, the Dnieper Ukraine, Bessarabia, the Grand Duchy of Finland, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, most of the Baltic provinces, a big chunk of Poland, and the Central Asian states of Russian Turkestan.”

Dmitry Medvedev, who used to be president of Russia, wrote that he agreed with taking back the land. He said, “According to a State Department representative, Russia is not getting back Alaska, which was sold to the U.S. in the 19th century.” So, that’s it. We’ve been waiting for it to be returned for days now. Now we can’t avoid war.”

There have been other times when Russia has talked about taking back land that it sold to other countries. For instance, in December, a Russian politician wrote on X that Russia might be able to take back other sites.

“Did you want a new way of running the world?” Get and sign. Guyana-Essequibo became the 24th state that Venezuela took over. The Russian official wrote to X on December 6. He went on, “This is happening right in front of the United States, which used to be a world power.” Mexico still needs to give back Texas and the rest. People in the US need to think about their future now. Also about Alaska.”
