Seven hundred million dollars were put into Singapore’s AI technology

Singapore is going to put more than $700 million into AI over the next five years. Singapore says that it wants to put a lot of money into its AI technology to make them stronger in the global technology market.

In a recent budget plan speech, Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said that they would be putting almost a million dollars into their AI technology to make the country smarter.

Nithin Chandra, Managing Partner of Southeast Asia at Kearney, said, “This initiative will help make sure that businesses can take advantage of the chances that come with new technologies and find new ones.”

Wong said that the country is trying to protect AI chips, which are a big part of technology and AI development. In his words, the AI chips “are so crucial to AI development and deployment.”

People in Singapore have a good chance of getting the advances in AI technology they want. A study from August by LinkedIn called “Future of Work” says that Singaporean workers are the fastest in the world at learning or using AI.  Singapore was one of the first places in 2019 to put out an AI plan.

Singapore also released an AI governance testing system in May 2022. It was called AI Verify. People can use the tool to test AI models technically and record process checks at the same time. Meta and Google are two big tech companies that have tried AI Verify and given their thoughts on it.

Singapore is making progress in AI, and because of its environment that encourages new ideas, experts believe that it has a good chance of becoming an AI hub.
