Aside from experimenting with rockets, SpaceX has also been making a brand-new, cutting-edge spacesuit. The suits, which are called extravehicular activity suits (EVA suits), are both practical and stylish.
The new spacesuits are meant to replace the old, bulky ones. They have a sleek form and advanced features. These SpaceX suits are very different from the spacesuits you see on TV or in movies. The helmets aren’t shaped like a “goldfish bowl,” and the suits don’t fit like a glove. Instead, they’re more like “human-shaped spacecraft.”
These suits were mostly made for the Polaris Dawn mission. They are meant to be worn on spacewalks and inside the Dragon ship. The suits are a big improvement because they give people better mobility, durability, and safety.
The suit has improved seals and valves to keep you safe and joints that can rotate so you can move around. They will have a 3D-printed helmet with a camera, a HUD, and a cover that blocks out glare. The thermal management textiles were taken from Falcon rockets to protect pilots very well.
The suits look and feel the same as the last model, but they are made with new materials and methods that take them to a higher level and improve their performance. Also, the suit is scalable, which means it can be made to fit different body types.
The old suit was meant to protect people in the Dragon ship in case of an emergency, but it wasn’t made for spacewalks themselves. They will be able to handle the conditions in space thanks to the updated and added parts of this new suit.
As part of the Polaris Dawn mission, the EVA suit will be put to the test, and plans will be made for future operations.
