The Senate approves a $118 billion deal for aid and border security

The US Senate just said that they have agreed to give $118 billion to help Israel, Ukraine, and keep the borders safe.

Republicans, Democrats, and President Joe Biden have been working together to find a way to help send aid to both Israel and Ukraine. However, conservatives who want to fix the problem at the Mexican border have been very critical of Biden.

The bill was introduced on Sunday and would have separate budgets for Israel and Ukraine. It would also have a budget to deal with the violence in the Red Sea. Around $14.1 billion in military aid will be sent to Israel, $60 billion to Ukraine, $2 billion to improve safety in the Red Sea, and more than $4 billion to help Asia, where problems have grown between China and Taiwan.

The bill also talks about problems with migrants at the border and gives President Biden the power to send any migrants back to their home countries if border officials become too busy. This is done to eliminate problems that could make border agents tougher on them.

I’m happy to say that Biden and I have agreed on a bipartisan national security deal that includes the toughest and fairest border changes in decades. I strongly back it.”

The leader of the Democrats in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, said of the new bill, “This is one of the most necessary and important pieces of legislation Congress has put forward in years to ensure America’s future prosperity and security.”

A lot of people still don’t agree with the bill, and they don’t think it will fully fix the problems we’re having with the border. It was even said that “under this legislation: the border never closes,” which shows that this bill either won’t fix anything or solve the problem.
