The US and Saudi Arabia are almost done making a major security deal. It’s been very important to President Joe Biden that this gets done because it would start a new bond between the US and Israel.
An official from the US said that the agreement had made a lot of work forward. In Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman to talk about choices that needed to be made about Saudi Aramco, the Saudi Arabian Oil Company.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the deal and choice are “almost final.” Defense guarantees and civil nuclear cooperation are talked about in the first set of deals in the document. It would go on to say that they would make things normal between Israel and Saudi Arabia. A road for a Palestinian state would be made by another part, but this is more complicated and depends on a lot of things.
Antony Blinken, the secretary of state, said that the goal is to bring “calm to Gaza” and a “real path to a Palestinian State.” Biden’s staff have planned to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, in Israel.
According to a source, the agreement can’t go any further and can’t go any further without a plan that includes a two-state solution that lets Palestine rule the West Bank and Gaza.
President Joe Biden has said many times that he thinks Hamas carried out the attack to stop him from trying to get a deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel that wouldn’t put the Palestinians first.
It’s not clear what Netanyahu will agree to because he is publicly against Palestine, but he is under a lot of pressure to make a deal. Biden thinks that Netanyahu will see the deal as a chance and a compromise on Palestine issues, even though he has his own beliefs and worries about it.
