Trump Takes Lead In Pennsylvania Poll

Former President Donald Trump now has a two-point lead over President Joe Biden in the historically Democratic state of Pennsylvania, new poll reveals.

According to a survey conducted by Quinnipiac University, 47 percent of registered Pennsylvania voters backed Trump in the 2024 presidential election, while Biden garnered 45 percent of support.

Another three percent would vote for a different candidate, while just two percent are undecided, and one percent refused to answer. Trump holds a near-double-digit advantage among Independent voters, taking 48 percent of the demographic’s support to Biden’s 39 percent.

“Biden vs. Trump: same as it ever was, setting up another likely bare-knuckled brawl between the two candidates in Biden’s home state,” noted Quinnipiac polling analyst Tim Malloy.

The poll also asked Republican voters in the Keystone State about candidates they would want to represent the party next year. Of that group, Trump is still popular with 61 percent of support, placing him 47 percentage points ahead of his nearest competitor, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, at 14 percent.

Elsewhere, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is on DeSantis’s heels in third place with eight percent of support, followed by former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Vice President Mike Pence at four percent apiece.

“It’s certainly not enough for Trump to ‘hear footsteps,’ but Ron DeSantis may well take note that candidate Nikki Haley is closing in on second position,” Malloy added.

Across the country, most Republican voters are in favor of Trump representing the GOP. According to The Economist and YouGov’s own poll, 51 percent prefer the 45th president, while DeSantis came in second again with 14 percent.

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy comes in a distant third with five percent. Haley comes in fourth with four percent, followed by Pence with three percent, Christie with two percent, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott with two percent.

The Economist and YouGov also asked voters who they would be disappointed to see become the Republican nominee; they were instructed to choose everyone who applied. 53 percent of respondents said they would be disappointed if Christie was chosen as the nominee, while 49 percent would be disappointed if Pence was chosen.
