Unhinged Dem Pushes Conspiracy Theory

Woke New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed on Wednesday that the riots in the U.S. Capitol last year were just a “trial run.”

Speaking with constituents at a town hall, Ocasio-Cortez warned that Republicans will overthrow future legitimate elections if Democrats lose control of the House in the 2022 midterm elections in November.

“If we lose the House— this is no joke. Jan. 6 was a trial run, and a lot of people don’t seem to understand that,” she said. “It was a trial run, and they’re going to come back.”

Ocasio-Cortez went on elaborating her crazy theory, claiming that the Capitol building wasn’t completely overrun because Dems were in control at the time.

“Here’s the technicality of what happened on Jan. 6: The only reason it wasn’t worse was because Democrats had the House and they didn’t have the votes in the House,” the New York Democrat continued. “And if [Republicans] take the House, then they have the votes to not authorize and legitimize the presidential election, whatever the results are, and so this is very serious.”

She shared the video of her remarks on Twitter without offering any additional commentary. Users, however, chimed in to school her.

“Maybe the Democratic Party should have done more for poor [and] working class people instead of whining about Republicans,” wrote one user. “I always thought that was @AOC’s wing of the party anyway but maybe that’s changed.”

“Sounds like AOC is afraid Republicans will do what Democrats are already doing!” said another, while another tweeted that she’s “one of the many reasons the House [is] flipping.”

Contrary to Ocasio-Cortez’s claims,  Republicans do not have the authority to delegitimize and not authorize a future presidential election if they simply had control of the House, as a majority is required in the House and Senate to block the result of the Electoral College.

The House would only be the sole determiner of the presidential election if no candidate receives a majority of the votes. Senators then vote on the three candidates with the highest number of electoral votes, with each state having a single vote.
