An unvaccinated father in Canada lost custody of his children after a judge ruled in favor of the vaccinated mother last month.
According to CBC News, the unidentified parents from New Brunswick, Canada have been divorced since 2019 but share custody of their three children, including an immunocompromised 10-year-old.

The mother asked to take full custody of their children last year after the father and his new wife refused to be vaccinated amid their daughter’s ongoing treatment for tumors in her blood vessels.
The court ruled in favor of the mother, with Justice Nathalie Godbout saying that it was necessary for their daughter’s health, especially during the coronavirus pandemic and the effects of the recently discovered omicron variant.
The mother is also being allowed to vaccinate her children without the need for approval from their father since Canada has lowered its vaccine eligibility to five years old.
According to the Canadian Press, however, the father is being given a chance to regain custody of his children if he gets vaccinated as well, but for now, he is only allowed to video call or talk with his kids on the phone.
Additionally, the judge dismissed the father’s personal research on the effectiveness of vaccines.
“His own anecdotal research on such a highly specialized topic carries little to no weight in the overall analysis when measured against the sound medical advice of our public health officials,” wrote Godbout. “It is no contest: the current science in the face of a highly contagious virus far outweighs Mr. F.’s layman wait-and-see approach.”
“This is what’s best for the children, period. She’s acknowledged this is going to have an impact on the children,” said the mother’s lawyer Grant Ogilvie.
The father has given no comment about the matter so far.
Similarly, a father from Quebec also lost custody of his son last year because he is unvaccinated, according to BBC News.
