US Authorizes Attacks Against Targets Linked to Iran

Recent news stories say that the US has approved a plan to strike targets in Iraq that are related to Iran after they attacked a military base in Jordan and killed three American soldiers.

Because of the attack in Jordan, the White House said they have given the go-ahead to strike two different targets. No other information has been made public about the planned response. The White House is mostly worried about the weather because they want to be able to see everything so that people don’t get hurt.

In response, President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran said, “We will not start a war, but anyone who tries to bully us will get a strong response.” In the past, when the US wanted to talk to us, they said that going to war was “on the table.” At this point, they say they don’t want to fight Iran.

Groups with ties to Iran have attacked US military sites before, but since the war in Gaza started, the attacks have become stronger and happen more often. This attack, on the other hand, was the first one that killed US soldiers since the war between Israel and Hamas started. The pro-Iran group has said that they will keep attacking US sites in Iraq as long as the war in Gaza lasts and as long as US troops are there.

An awful lot of people were waiting for President Biden to say whether or not the US would fight back. The United States said their attack could last for a few days and hit more than one target. They said it would be “sustained over time.”

Iran and the US both said they didn’t want to take military action to make things worse, but the war in Israel has now reached the Red Sea with strikes from Hezbollah and the Houthis of Yemen.

Through some messages, Tehran has told the US that they will fight back against any threats that are made against them.
