US Intel Helped Sink Russian Warship

Reports revealed that the United States had shared intel with Ukraine before a Russian warship sank amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

According to the reports, the incident was a high-profile failure for Russia’s military.

An American official who spoke anonymously revealed that Ukraine had already decided to target and sink the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet with the use of the country’s anti-ship missiles.

However, the United States had provided Ukraine “a range of intelligence” including the locations of those ships.

The US decision came after the Biden administration was pressured by the Americans and Republicans to do more to support Ukraine’s resistance.

Moreover, the official who spoke on Thursday also revealed that “the U.S. was not aware that Ukraine planned to strike the Moskva until after they conducted the operation.”

Earlier Thursday, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said American agencies “do not provide intelligence on the location of senior military leaders on the battlefield or participate in the targeting decisions of the Ukrainian military.”

“Ukraine combines information that we and other partners provide with the intel that they themselves are gathering and then they make their own decisions and they take their own actions,” Kirby added.
