What Does Not Getting Vaccinated as a Child Mean for 2024?

In 2023, the number of kids who got vaccinated was the lowest it had ever been. It’s the lowest it’s been in 10 years, which could have a big effect on sickness in 2024 and the years to come.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that this lack of trust and children not getting vaccinated puts 250,000 kindergarteners at risk for getting measles.

Measles is a very dangerous disease that can spread very quickly. Recently, a baby and two kids from a Philadelphia daycare were taken to the hospital because they had measles.

There is a risk because kids aren’t getting vaccinated and parents don’t believe the years of study and science that show vaccines work. So, states have started to change these rules and make it easier for kids to get the shots they need for school. These rules are changed based on people’s religious, philosophical, and spiritual views.

A lot of experts are afraid that this will lead people to reject other medical methods and advice that is backed by science. More outbreaks, pandemics, and other types of disease spread could happen because of this.

A researcher on vaccines at Texas’s Baylor College of Medicine, Peter Hotez, said, “This is a well-organized political movement, and the health and science sectors don’t know what to do.”

The number of people who follow the rules and laws about vaccines is going down. Not long ago, only 60% of Republicans supported vaccines. In 2019, 80% of Republicans supported them.

Many experts say that libertarians and conservatives like to follow trends that make the government less able to control people. This includes beliefs about climate change and beliefs about vaccinations. Sort Reids is an expert on vaccine policy. He said, “People become anti-vaccine when the argument makes sense, even if they weren’t anti-vaccine before.”

More and more people will be talking about COVID-19 and other virus medicines as the election gets closer. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is an independent candidate who is campaigning against vaccines and has said many times that he thinks the COVID-19 vaccine doesn’t work.

There are big risks when politics get involved with medicine and drugs, and you can already see them at work in the upcoming presidential elections.

COVID-19 made vaccines even more political, especially since details about it caused a lot of debate. Rep. Brad Winstrup of Ohio said, “We were told that the vaccine would stop the spread, but it turned out that wasn’t completely true, and America noticed.”

A lot of people are worried that the sources we’ve heard about vaccines in the past might not be reliable anymore.
