A woman in California has found $36,000 in cash tucked away inside a free couch that she received from a stranger online through Craigslist.
According to the reports, Vicky Umodu, a resident of San Bernardino County, the couch was acquired through craigslist.
Umodu claimed that she was looking through Craigslist to buy furniture for her new furnished home when she found some pieces that someone was giving away for free.

“I scrolled down and saw free items. So, I clicked on it, and the first thing I came up with was this family that wanted to give a sofa, and everything in their bedroom set…I said maybe it’s a gimmick, so I called them.” She told the outlet recently.
Umodu then later found out that the stranger was giving the couch away following the recent passing of a loved one.
“The family that was giving away the furniture explained that a loved one had recently passed away, and they were liquidating everything in the property.” The report noted.
“I just moved in, and I don’t have anything in my house. I was so excited, so we picked it up and brought it in,” Umodu added during an interview with KGO-TV.
However, after the couch was delivered to Umodu’s residence, she noticed something peculiar about it. According to her, at first she thought it was a heating pad, but under closer examination, she learned it was an envelope filled with thousands of dollars.
“I was just telling my son, ‘Come, come, come!’ I was screaming, ‘this is money! I need to call the guy,'” she told in an interview with ABC 7.
Stashed underneath the cushion was $36,000 in cash, she told KABC-TV.
Following the discovery, she notified the family, offering to return the sum.
However, the family rewarded Umodu for her generosity, giving her $2,200.

According to the family, they were not sure why so much cash was in the couch and they later discovered hundreds of dollars stashed away in their home.
